Drop Off and Collection
During these busy times of the day, traffic flow and pedestrian activity around the school and
village is high. We recognise that in a village school, there will be high volumes of traffic,
although we encourage children to walk, cycle or car share to school if possible. We are
committed to keeping everyone safe during drop off and collection, and appreciate your
cooperation with our systems.
Golden Rules PLEASE …….
- Park in Commonside Car Park and walk through the alleyway to school (4 minutes
- Park considerately: never park across a driveway, on the corners of roads or in a manner that would cause an obstruction
- Abide by the unofficial one-way system i.e. down Lakes Rd and up Keston Avenue.
We have a bicycle shed to store cycles and scooters safely during school time. Pupils are actively encouraged to use ‘eco friendly’ methods of transport to and from school.
The school provides the opportunity for cycle training in Y6 and promotes the wearing of cycle helmets.
Smart Movers Scheme
Keston participates in ‘Smart Movers’, a scheme to reward and encourage n to walk, cycle, scoot or park and stride to school on a regular basis. Children are rewarded each month with a badge if they walk, cycle, scoot or park and stride to school twice a week. (NB: Park and Stride does NOT apply to parking in Keston Gardens, Keston Ave, or Lakes Road!)
Community Road Safety Initiatives
We were pleased to have worked with the Keston Village Road Safety Association earlier this year in a competition for the children to design road safety banners, which are now displayed at the school gates. We were honoured to have the Mayor of Bromley visit school to hear about the initiative and present prizes to the children. We very much look forward to working on similar collaborative projects in the future..
We are delighted to have been awarded the Bronze Award for sustainable transport by TFL.
