In Year 5, children have moved into the upper part of KS2 and the pace speeds up a little as we work hard to be ready for Y6 and beyond that to secondary school! Life is busy and, we hope full of interest.
As well as continuing to progress through the core subjects of English and maths, over the course of the year much work is centred around the new Learning Challenge Curriculum and topics such as the Ancient Egyptians, Space, the Anglo-Saxons and Brazil. We like enjoy our residential trip to Bowles Activity Centre, where we overcome many personal challenges such as rock-climbing, skiing, abseiling, team building and more. Participation in sporting, drama and musical events also increases. Many children have practised hard on their chosen instruments and are invited into the school concert band, playing both in School and at public events alongside the enthusiastic members of the school choir.
