Keston Church of England Primary School

Year 3

Hello and welcome to Year 3 and Key Stage 2!

We would like to welcome you all to the Year 3 section of the Keston CE Primary School website. Here you will find information such as our long-term plan and curriculum map, which shows everything we cover in Year 3 at Keston.

Some aspects of life in the juniors are different to that of KS1 and might take a while to get used to. The transition letter and welcome meeting at the beginning of the year will help to answer any queries you may have about all aspects of life in Year 3.

We continue to follow the National Curriculum and cover a range of interesting and exciting topics such as Stone Age to Iron Age, Windrush, The United Kingdom, Ancient Egypt, Plants, Rocks, Forces and Magnets, Light and learning all about skeletons and muscles! We also undertake fieldwork in our local area.

We will also be producing some imaginative and creative pieces of art, linked to our other curriculum areas; designing and sewing a Christmas decoration; and learning about – and cooking with – seasonal foods.

Year 3 take part in some interesting and exciting school visits, for example, to Chislehurst Caves, the Sikh Gurdwara and the Maidstone Museum and also have a really fun Stone Age Workshop.

We are looking forward to working together so that we can have a very exciting and productive year. We hope that your child will enjoy the new challenges and approaches to learning that Year 3 has to offer.

If you have any questions at all, please email us at y3keston@keston.bromley.sch.uk
